Elena obtains Architect’s degree from the ETSAB in 1990. Lecturer in Project Design at the International University of Catalonia since 1999. Lecturer in Project Management at the International University of Catalonia since 2001. Special Mention in the Young Architects Competition. Rent-controlled housing for young people in Barcelona with Mar Puig de la Bellacasa and Manel Bermudo in 2003. Runner-up in the Young Architects Competition. 150 Apartments for Young People in Barcelona’s Gran Vía with Mar Puig de la Bellacasa and Manel Bermudo in 2004. Finalist in the FAD Prizes for Architecture. Zaragoza – Delicias Intermodal Station with Carlos Ferrater, José Mª Valero and Félix Arranz.

Joan was born Barcelona 16 May 1963.Architecture studies in the El Vallès School of Architecture (1982-85) and the Barcelona School of Architecture (1985-89). Architect’s degree from the Barcelona School of Architecture in 1991.Has worked in different architectural practices since 1985. Participated in William J. R. Curtis’ seminar “Critical Research: The Search for Authenticity”. In 1993 joined Carlos Ferrater’s studio as an associate architect. In 2003 opened a professional practice with Elena Mateu and works as an associate studio with the studio of CF on different projects.


Born in Gandía, Valencia, in 1970. Graduated as an architect from the Valencia School of Architecture (ETSAV) in 1995 and was awarded a European Doctor of Architecture degree by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2007. Assistant Professor at the ETSAB, where he has taught in the graduate and postgraduate departments since 1999, and where he is currently deputy director. With Carlos Ferrater he directs the Cátedra enterprise, Cátedra Blanca de Barcelona, and the magazine and publishing house Palimpsesto, which is on the Avery Index of architecture periodicals. As well as publishing different teaching projects, Palimpsesto is noted for producing the book Words with Architects: Towards the Reconstruction of the Discipline (2015).

Widely experienced as a lecture and guest professor, he has participated in seminars, workshops, and end-of-course projects at schools in New York (Cooper Union), Paris, Berlin, Monterrey, Milan, Madrid, Valencia, and Venice. In the last two of these he spent research stays.

His activities as a project designer have been published in the leading specialized magazines and have been awarded numerous prizes. Noteworthy among these are the first prizes in fifteen competitions, and the recognition of his work in the XI BEAU and VIII BIAU biennales, and by the Architects College. His work has been exhibited in the Instituto Cervantes New York and the Architects College in Valencia. Various designs and utility models of his have been created with the UPC.
He has published research essays and articles on his work in magazines like Proyecto, progreso y arquitectura, AMC, Arquitectura Viva, and Architektur Wettbewerbe.
He collaborates on a regular basis with OAB and is a member of the AxA association.




Born in Verona (IT) in 1976, he studies architecture at the University of Florence. In 2003 he establishes residence in Barcelona, where he works with Carlos Ferrater at the Office of Architecture in Barcelona (OAB) until 2008. Domenico co-founded with Katerina Samsarelou the architecture firm PiSaA, becoming an associated architectural studio of O.A.B.
