Durant els \u00faltims anys OAB ha experimentat un gran augment de m\u00faltiples i diversos enc\u00e0rrecs internacionals que comen\u00e7aren a Fran\u00e7a i It\u00e0lia i, actualment, tamb\u00e9 a Alemanya, Marroc, Turquia, Estats Units, Brasil i M\u00e8xic.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019estructura d\u2019OAB, gr\u00e0cies a la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb arquitectes de diferents parts del m\u00f3n, est\u00e0 preparada per treballar en m\u00faltiples escenaris per\u00f2 sempre entenent que l\u2019arquitectura neix d\u2019unes arrels vinculades a la tradici\u00f3 dels llocs en el que es treballa i sempre sent respectuosos amb els aspectes f\u00edsics de l\u2019empla\u00e7ament o amb els relatius a l\u2019organitzaci\u00f3 social dels programes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Tanmateix, els projectes neixen sobretot de l\u2019abstracci\u00f3 que permet a OAB trobar en altres indrets formes d\u2019expressi\u00f3 similars\u00a0 encara que condicionades tamb\u00e9 a nous requisits i premisses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Avui, les oficines d\u2019arquitectura han de ser obertes, flexibles i adaptades als diferents plantejaments que la societat demana enfront del nou escenari, que m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de la seva condici\u00f3 ef\u00edmera i variable, ha de mantenir all\u00f2 essencial de l\u2019ofici i all\u00f2 consubstancial a la pr\u00e0ctica de l\u2019arquitectura.<\/p>\n

I m\u00e9s que mai, han de prevaler els aspectes essencials i immutables de l\u2019arquitectura de sempre per\u00f2 amb la possibilitat d\u2019adaptar-se amb facilitat a les noves situacions i demandes.<\/p>\n

Avui potser, l\u2019especialitzaci\u00f3 i la repetici\u00f3 de models i f\u00f3rmules s\u00f3n conceptes que han quedat obsolets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Carlos Ferrater \u00e9s un arquitecte amb m\u00e9s de 40 anys d\u2019experi\u00e8ncia (des de 1971) que ha combinat la pr\u00e0ctica professional amb l\u2019experi\u00e8ncia acad\u00e8mica i ha demostrat la seva v\u00e0lua amb nombroses obres de gran rellev\u00e0ncia I distinci\u00f3 aix\u00ed com la transmissi\u00f3 de la il\u00b7lusi\u00f3 del treball realitzat dia a dia i la coher\u00e8ncia d\u2019una traject\u00f2ria professional.<\/p>\n

    L\u2019any 2005 en Carlos, juntament amb els seus fills Borja i Luc\u00eda Ferrater aix\u00ed com el seu gendre Xavier Mart\u00ed-Gal\u00ed decidiren constituir la nova plataforma col\u00b7lectiva, Office of Architecture in Barcelona (OAB) basada en l\u2019aprenentatge realitzat en els anys previs.<\/p>\n

    Aix\u00ed doncs OAB recull la traject\u00f2ria de l\u2019anterior estudi incorporant les noves maneres d\u2019entendre l\u2019arquitectura dels components de l\u2019equip, una forma de prosseguir en l\u2019aproximaci\u00f3 als projectes m\u00e9s rica, variada, tramada i flexible. La renovaci\u00f3 i conseq\u00fcent creaci\u00f3 d\u2019aquesta nova plataforma tractar\u00e0 d\u2019afrontar els reptes que l\u2019arquitectura d\u2019aquest segle cont\u00e9 plantejats en els \u00e0mbits intel\u00b7lectual i social, tecnol\u00f2gic i mediambiental.<\/p>\n

    Des de la socialitzaci\u00f3 del treball col\u00b7lectiu i a partir de les empremtes personals dels seus membres, aquest reportatge recull projectes i obres constru\u00efdes en aquest \u00faltim per\u00edode que posen de manifest la voluntat de treballar en diferents escenaris ampliant i enriquint el ventall de proposicions en la cerca de nous canals d\u2019expressi\u00f3 formal.<\/p>\n

    Incidir en els aspectes te\u00f2rics del projecte, en la innovaci\u00f3 i investigaci\u00f3 de noves tecnologies i sense oblidar el respecte pel lloc \u00e9s l\u2019arrel social del treball de l\u2019arquitecte i la ra\u00f3 constructiva en all\u00f2 ocult de la proposici\u00f3 i el desenvolupament projectual.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    OAB ha perm\u00e8s experimentar en diferents \u00e0mbits de treball arquitect\u00f2nic com s\u00f3n els edificis de diferent dimensi\u00f3 i factura, espais p\u00fablics, espais interiors, instal\u00b7lacions ef\u00edmeres o tem\u00e0tiques vinculades al paisatge, possibilitant al mateix temps la internacionalitzaci\u00f3 d\u2019una part del treball de l\u2019estudi.<\/p>\n

    V\u00e0ries circumst\u00e0ncies s\u00f3n les que han provocat el naixement d\u2019aquesta nova plataforma, basada en el treball transversal, oberta a la innovaci\u00f3 i a la experimentaci\u00f3, flexible en les seves proposicions conceptuals i amb el convenciment de que cada nou projecte representa una experi\u00e8ncia diferent en la que cal posar el rellotge a zero.<\/p>\n

    Es va dosificant al llarg del desenvolupament del projecte el que s\u2019ha apr\u00e8s anteriorment, fins a demostrar que l\u2019ess\u00e8ncia del treball de l\u2019arquitecte no est\u00e0 en el llenguatge ni en l\u2019ostentaci\u00f3 de l\u2019estil, ni tampoc en la utilitzaci\u00f3 de metodologies, sin\u00f3 en la resposta a les condicions del paisatge i a la ciutat, a la complexitat de l\u2019organitzaci\u00f3 social dels programes, a la utilitzaci\u00f3 de la llum com a mat\u00e8ria prima projectual amb capacitat per generar espaialitat i emoci\u00f3, i a la materialitat que incideix en els aspectes m\u00e9s sensitius i sensorials que apropen l\u2019obra arquitect\u00f2nica als futurs usuaris i habitants, com a persones receptores finals del treball de l\u2019arquitecte.<\/p>\n

    Han estat v\u00e0ries les circumst\u00e0ncies que portaren a la formaci\u00f3 d\u2019OAB: La primera d\u2019elles, com ja hem comentat, fou la decisi\u00f3 d\u2019un grup de joves arquitectes que decidiren convertir el treball de l\u2019estudi en una experi\u00e8ncia col\u00b7lectiva.<\/p>\n

    La segona consideraci\u00f3 que ha possibilitat i ha enfortit conceptualment el nou estudi ha estat la consecuci\u00f3 d\u2019un corpus te\u00f2ric, extret de la praxis del projecte, a partir de determinades experi\u00e8ncies projectuals que es recullen en la publicaci\u00f3 d\u2019investigaci\u00f3 Syncronizing Geometry (ACTAR 2006) que documenta els processos d\u2019aproximaci\u00f3 al projecte, mostrant com la utilitzaci\u00f3 de geometries complexes, obertes i flexibles, es converteixen en instrument i eina amb capacitat per sondejar les condicions intel\u00b7lectuals i la tradici\u00f3 cultural dels llocs i paisatges en els que es desenvolupen les diverses propostes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Aquesta instrumentalitzaci\u00f3 a partir de la utilitzaci\u00f3 de geometries conforma el marc organitzatiu y program\u00e0tic al mateix temps que aporta els mecanismes constructius que fan possible transformar les idees inicials i els conceptes originals en realitats constru\u00efdes.<\/p>\n

    La tercera circumst\u00e0ncia es materialitza en constatar la import\u00e0ncia i necessitat de concebre simult\u00e0niament la soluci\u00f3 arquitect\u00f2nica i l\u2019estructural. En gaireb\u00e9 la totalitat dels projectes que componen l\u2019argumentaci\u00f3 projectual de Syncronizing Geometry l\u2019estructura s\u2019ent\u00e9n com a suport espaial del projecte i s\u2019arriba en ocasions a concebre l\u2019esquelet estructural com a forma final de l\u2019obra constru\u00efda.<\/p>\n

    Aix\u00ed, els murs de terra armada al Jard\u00ed Bot\u00e0nic de Barcelona, la membrana portant com a fa\u00e7ana urbana a l\u2019edifici de Mediapro, la l\u00e0mina de formig\u00f3 armat que construeix les formes de fusi\u00f3 al Passeig Mar\u00edtim de Benidorm, la coberta topogr\u00e0fica del Parc de les Ci\u00e8ncies a Granada, o el diafragma de llum a la coberta de l\u2019estaci\u00f3 de Delicias a Saragossa, entre d\u2019altres projectes, ens han portat a establir una col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 sincr\u00f2nica amb Juan Calvo (Enginyer de Camins) experi\u00e8ncia del qual en grans obres d\u2019enginyeria civil ens ha donat la possibilitat d\u2019incorporar solucions pr\u00f2pies de la enginyeria a l\u2019edificaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n

    Membranes posttesades de gran complexitat com \u00e9s el de la Casa AA, la soluci\u00f3 de les formes org\u00e0niques de Benidorm, o la pr\u00f2pia estructura solid\u00e0ria en el repartiment dels esfor\u00e7os axils de l\u2019esquelet que formalitza l\u2019edifici de Mediapro, s\u2019han convertit en propostes intel\u00b7lectuals al mateix temps que constructives.<\/p>\n

    Serien doncs aquestes q\u00fcestions de fons i de forma les que han condu\u00eft a la creaci\u00f3 d\u2019OAB com a plataforma amb la qual encarar els reptes arquitect\u00f2nics d\u2019aquest nou segle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        La seva primera obra, 54 habitatges del complex residencial de Sant Just Park a Sant Just Desvern (1974-1977), s\u2019arrela en l\u2019obra de Josep Antoni Coderch; \u00e9s a dir, anuncia una recorrent voluntat de realisme, d\u2019efic\u00e0cia, de temperat racionalisme adaptat al context i de professionalitat.<\/p>\n

        Els dos edificis d\u2019habitatges del carrer Bertr\u00e1n a Barcelona -el primer de 1981 a 1982 i el segon de 1983 a 1985- i, l\u2019edifici El Port de l\u2019Estartit (1979-1980), s\u00f3n demostracions de la seva capacitat per avan\u00e7ar en la invenci\u00f3 tipol\u00f2gica i per a desenvolupar un llenguatge atractiu i elegant.<\/p>\n

        Aquestes primeres obres mostren com aquesta expressi\u00f3 de l\u2019arquitectura moderna, amb la seva abstracci\u00f3, repetici\u00f3, transparpencia i materials industrials, es concilia amb un classicisme mediterrani amb el rigor de la composici\u00f3.<\/p>\n

        En aquesta primera \u00e8poca es projecte diversos poliesportius recurrint a la lleugeresa dels pavellons en el que la massa es desmaterialitza, inspirant-se en les arquitectures de Mies Van der Rohe, com es mostra al pavell\u00f3 poliesportiu de L\u2019Ametlla del Vall\u00e8s (1984-1988) i el mercat a Vila-seca a Salou (1986-1987), els dos projectes amb Jos\u00e9 Luis Canosa.<\/p>\n

        I aquesta primera etapa culmina amb la casa Guix de la Meda (1984) i el projecte del Club N\u00e0utic l\u2019Estartit (1988-1991).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

        El per\u00edode \u00e0lgid previ als Jocs Ol\u00edmpics fou de gran vitalitat per a Ferrater, en la mesura que el seu equip assum\u00ed obres altament represetatives de la Barcelona ol\u00edmpica: les tres illes a la Vila Ol\u00edmpica (1988-1992), els habitatges de la Vall d\u2019Hebron (1989-1992), l\u2019Hotel Rei Juan Carlos I (1988-1992) i el Jard\u00ed Bot\u00e0nic, del qual va guanyar el concurs de l\u2019any 1989 encara que no es finalitz\u00e9s fins a 10 anys m\u00e9s tard.<\/p>\n

        Les seves dos grans intervencions urbanes d\u2019habitatges col\u00b7lectius per la Barcelona ol\u00edmpica -les tres illes de la Vila Ol\u00edmpica i el complex residencial a la Vall d\u2019Hebr\u00f3n- destaquen per la manera que es situen en relaci\u00f3 amb l\u2019entorn dotant-lo d\u2019un nou ordre, morfol\u00f2gicament unitari en el seu conjunt, en el que domina la for\u00e7a, la claredat i la precisi\u00f3.<\/p>\n

        La contund\u00e8ncia volum\u00e8trica permet crear espais oberts, gaireb\u00e9 \u00edntims, als interiors de l\u2019illa, aportant una nova dimensi\u00f3 i car\u00e0cter a l\u2019espai p\u00fablic.<\/p>\n

        \u00c9s en el projecte d\u2019aquests preciosos i abstractes jardins de les tres illes on s\u2019inici\u00e0 la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb la paisatgista Bet Figueras.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

        Despr\u00e9s del per\u00edode ol\u00edmpic s\u2019obren noves vies experimentals com el \u201cminimalisme\u201d del IMPIVA a Castell\u00f3 (1993-1995) o la introducci\u00f3 de formes fractals, desenvolupades per primera vegada al Fitness per a l\u2019Hotel Juan Carlos I (1993-1996).<\/p>\n

        L\u2019equip Ferrater realitz\u00e0 dos experiments emblem\u00e0tics m\u00e9s: la casa-estudi per a un fot\u00f2graf a Llampaies (1993-1995) i els estudis de cine Arruga a Sant Just Desvern (1995-1997). Durant aquests anys hi va haver dos projectes d\u2019escala urbana per a Barcelona: les propostes per l\u2019obertura de la Diagonal (1989) i per al front mar\u00edtim del Poblenou (1995).<\/p>\n

        Aquest per\u00edode culmina amb el Palau de Congressos a la Diagonal (1999-2004). Abans de la creaci\u00f3 d\u2019OAB (Office Architecture in Barcelona) l\u2019any 2005 es realitzen algunes de les obres m\u00e9s representatives com l\u2019Estaci\u00f3 Intermodal de Zaragoza-Del\u00edcias (1999-2004), i s\u2019inicien projectes clau com el Passeig Mar\u00edtim de Benidorm en guanyar el concurs el 2002.<\/p>\n

        Pr\u00e8viament a la fundaci\u00f3 d\u2019OAB, Ferrater comen\u00e7a a comptar amb la col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 de la seva filla Luc\u00eda Ferrater i realitza obres molt reconegudes com els habitatges, equipaments espai p\u00fablic entre elles Roger de Flor \/ Al\u00ed Bei \/ Ausi\u00e0s Marc (2001-2004).<\/p>\n

        El projecte per al concurs del Museu de la conflu\u00e8ncia a Lyon (2000) no es realitz\u00e0 per\u00f2 la seva avan\u00e7ada proposta diagram\u00e0tica tindr\u00e0 una magn\u00edfica realitzaci\u00f3 al parc de les ci\u00e8ncies de Granada (2004-2009).<\/p>\n
