Hotels / The Barcelona Edition Hotel
This 5* Hotel is located in a former office building, the general structure of which is preserved but whose façade is entirely remodeled.
The handling of the façades defines a systemic structure that reinforces the urban character of the scheme as well as that of the public space.
The façade on Avenida Francesc Cambó is organized according to the rhythm of triangular bow windows, which correspond to the hotel rooms, and stainless-steel profiles, which provide verticality and make the crowning element that much lighter.
The construction of a three-story podium with flush openings seeks to create a rapport between the building and the horizontal plane and to free up height to enhance public space.
The creation of the chamfered corner also recognizes public space and improves the relationship with the avenue, and, together with a more opaque end wall, defines and accentuates a more neutral gyration.
The end wall proffers an incision that gives a friendlier proportion to the resulting volumes, and the rear façade presents openings whose size and position are carefully thought out in order to respond to the scale of the old part of the city.
