Guix de la Meda House
Guix de la Meda House
Not often is one faced with designing a single-family home on a site with such a pronounced landscape and characteristics. This house is located on the north side of the l’Estartit Bay facing east towards the Medas Islands. The site dominates ‘el freu’ and is protected by a cliff from the north wind. A road at the top to the property provides access to the site.
Facing the house is a small bright triangular island used as navigational reference point, calles ‘el Guix de la Meda’. The small copper and glass triangular roof that covers the entrance to the house derives its form from this island. In section the project was conceived of in response to the sharp level changes of the site. At the geometric center of the project terraced platforms containing the swimming pool and an outdoor dining area are located.
